Kansas City Teacher Residency

 

Program Focus: Education

 

Kansas City Teacher Residency utilizes AmeriCorps members to develop effective, compassionate, and anti-racist educators who work to ensure students receive a quality education. They do this through a teacher residency model, which allows AmeriCorps members to hone their teaching skills in a Mentor teacher's classroom for a full school year. Members earn teaching certification, receive instructional coaching, and engage in coursework.

Program Focus: Economic Opportunity

 

The International Rescue Committee's Kansas Office for Refugees utilizes AmeriCorps members to provide job skills training, assist with job placement, and provide financial education to refugee communities across Kansas, including Kansas City, Wichita, Garden City, and Dodge City.

United Way of Kaw Valley

 

Program Focus: Capacity Building

 

The United Way engages AmeriCorps members in building the capacity of services and targeted programming that addresses disparities in health, education, income, housing, and food access in nine health and human service nonprofits in Douglas County, KS. AmeriCorps members serve by increasing the capacity and effectiveness of their partner organizations and forming new programmatic partnerships.

The Community Food Network engages AmeriCorps members to build the capacity of the Harvesters network by engaging volunteers and supporting Harvesters agencies throughout 16 counties in northeast Kansas.

Program Focus: Capacity Building

 

 

The Wichita State University Community Engagement Institute (CEI) engages AmeriCorps members to serve students in Sedgwick County and the Wichita Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). Through their efforts, AmeriCorps members serve by increasing the capacity of organizations by improving academic success, and workforce development opportunities for students served.

Program Focus: Education

 

USD 260 utilizes AmeriCorps members to tutor students in math, reading, and kindergarten readiness in the Derby Public Schools. Members serve their community by increasing student academic achievement and expanding the availability of early childhood education opportunities. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will support 32 volunteers who will engage in tutoring students and service-learning in the community.

Kansas Dept of Wildlife and Parks

 

Program Focus: Capacity Building

 

 

The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) engages AmeriCorps members to build the capacity of Kansas State Parks and other public-managed lands. By environmental education programming, advancements to public land and its infrastructure, and improvements to the health of Kansas' natural resources through the treatment of public lands and trails in Kansas.

The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence utilizes AmeriCorps Members who will serve directly with disadvantaged youth to provide academic and social/emotional interventions at locations across Kansas.
