VOLUNTEER MANAGER SUPPORT MINI-GRANT

- This Application Period Closed 3/01/2023 -

The Kansas Volunteer Commission seeks to support volunteer manager support initiatives that fall into one of two categories:

Training to enhance the volunteer experience in Kansas: Activities should lead to an individual’s attainment of new knowledge or skill to improve their volunteer experience (CPR, mentor training, mental health first aid, etc.), or the training should lead to improved performance while volunteering (preventing compassion fatigue, for example).

Training to increase the capacity of volunteer managers to better support volunteers:  Activities should lead to the individual’s attainment of new knowledge or skill to better manage volunteers (volunteer recruitment or ability to retain, for example), or the training should lead to improved performance in managing volunteers (inspiring volunteers, improved communication, etc.).

As outlined above, applicants may provide training directly to volunteers, and/or they may provide training for the individuals managing volunteers in their communities. Funds may be used to hire speakers, purchase training supplies, secure event space, attend professional training or conferences, print materials, or other training-related costs.
